EEA and Swiss Nationals
An EEA national can come to the UK and reside in the UK for up to 3 months.
If you are an EEA national or Swiss national and wish to reside in the UK for longer than this time you will have to show that you are a ‘qualified person.' The rules governing an EEA national or Swiss national residing in the UK comes from the Immigration (European Economic Area) Regulations 2006.
If you are an EEA national or Swiss national and a qualified person you will be able to bring certain members of your family with you to the UK to also reside with you.
If you wish to bring extended family to the UK you will have to show that your extended family member is dependent upon them. For example a brothers, sisters, cousins, etc are considered to be extended family members.
If the family member you wish to bring to the UK is not themselves EEA nationals or Swiss nationals they will need to apply for a family permit before entering the UK.
Once in the UK your family member will need to apply for an EEA residence card. You may also wish apply for an EEA registration certificate to show your status in the UK but this is not compulsory.

A8 Nationals
An A8 national is a person that comes from Poland, Czech Republic, Lithuania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Hungary, Estonia and Latvia.
These countries became members of the EEA on 1st May 2004. During the transitional stages of becoming full EEA countries, nationals from these countries are not given the fully EEA rights as other EEA nationals such as persons from France, Germany, etc.
Nationals from the A8 countries who wish to work in the UK will need to within the first month of employment register on the Workers Registration Scheme. You will only be able to bring your spouse and children to the UK. You will need to be employed continuously for 12 months before enjoying the full rights of an EEA National.

A2 Nationals
An A2 national is a person that comes from Romania or Bulgaria.
These countries became members of the EEA on 1st January 2007. During the transitional stages of becoming full EEA countries, nationals from these countries are not given the full rights of other EEA nationals.
You may come to the UK to work. However your work is restricted to specified employment. You must obtain an accession worker authorisation document before you can begin work. Family members are also restricted dependent on the type of specified employment you are doing.
