Tier 2 (General) Points Based Scheme

To employ an individual the job must be on the shortage of occupations list or meet the resident labour market test.

If the job is on the shortage of occupation list the individual will score 50 points. It is important that the Sponsor states on the Certificate of Sponsorship that the job is on the shortage of occupations list.

If the job is not on the shortage of occupations list you will need to show that the job meets the resident market test.

An individual will only be allowed to come to the UK if there are no suitable British or European Economic Area workers to fill the job.

If the job meets the resident market test the individual will score 30 points.

Tier 2 (Sportspersons)

Sponsorship in this area is complex due to other rules and regulations that apply concerning the profession that the sportsperson is involved with.

Tier 4 (students)
