Enterprise at Sheffield (part of the University of Sheffield's Careers Service, developing enterprise and entrepreneurship as a viable career) has been working with Bettina for over a year now. Being an alumna of the university, when Bettina set up her own business she immediately thought about giving something back to her university and approached us through her links with the Sheffield Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Bettina offered her professional services and legal advice to international students wanting to set up a business in the region. Her support and invaluable legal advice has helped direct many University of Sheffield students starting up their own businesses, which without her support is often a difficult and confusing career path. Feedback from students has highlighted how approachable and helpful she has been; constantly giving more and willing to offer follow-up meetings. We rely heavily on our external contacts to help offer the right kind of services to our students and Bettina's input is a crucial component of our activities, one which we are now working with her on developing further in the coming years!
As a shrewd business woman Bettina also realises the future opportunities to negotiate paid work for her business through us and our international students and we are fully supportive of helping young businesses to grow. Bettina has also taken advantage of the support we offer to recent graduates of the university. Her business idea made it to the finals of our Business Plan Competition in 2007, her success in the competition gave her access to intensive business mentoring support. Bettina is the kind of woman who takes advantage of every opportunity and is keen to ensure others benefit - we enjoy working with her!
